Why Give?

*Tithe: (tith) v., n. (pay) a tenth part of one’s income. What?! Why?!

If you’re a guest or someone who is not sure what they believe—but they are just visiting to check things out, we don’t want your money. We are just glad to have you with us!!

For our regular attenders, it might surprise you to know that we don’t expect a certain percentage of your income. That would be totally missing the point that God wants to make with us!

In 2 Corinthians 9:7, it says:

Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

In other words, if in your heart you feel that a tithe (tenth) is for you—great. If not—just listen to your heart. God will speak to you. Your budget may be so overflowing that you want to give a 20 or 30 percent offering. Your budget may not be so overflowing, and you feel that a 2 or 3 percent offering is for you. Again, the amount is not the point. The point is your heart.

We don’t really own anything—we are only here for a lifetime. God owns everything. (see 1 Chronicles 29:11-12) What we have, God has given us simply to be a steward of—or in other words, manager of—for Him. He wants us to be generous with His money as a way to give thanks to Him. When we give thanks and we are generous, He wants to bless us with even more! Can you imagine that?!

Think about this...anything that receives and doesn't give ends up not functioning very well. A balloon that continues to receive air will pop. A pool of water that receives more water and none flows out will become stagnant. A person with knowledge who doesn't share that knowledge - well, what good is that? It's just how God designed things - that's all.

If you want to conform to a code or system of deeds and observances by human effort, hoping to gain God's blessing and favor by such acts—you need to know that it doesn't work. Why?  Because there is no way to earn his favor and blessings. He already blesses and favors you! He already has given us grace (which is giving someone something good that they don't deserve) and mercy (which is not giving someone a punishment that they do deserve). There is no way to earn that grace and mercy because they are free gifts. The only thing you need to do is accept them. Jesus Christ—God's only son—earned the grace and mercy for us!

  (WOW!!!  What a gift!!)

Againso why give? Because you love God, and you want to cheerfully say Thank you!!

If you read on in 2 Corinthians 9:11,12, it says:

You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people, but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.

So, this  means the money you give to True North will go to practical things like this:

· Paying our Pastors and staff to do their jobs.

· ‘Benevolence’ - or in other words, helping widows and families within our church family make ends meet when they need help.

· Making payments on the building, heat, lights, water, garbage, phone, etc. so we have a place to worship.

· Building rent (WildSide) and supplies to teach our children about Jesus.

· Overseas missions: (Feeding and educating the poor overseas.)

· Computers, copier and printing expenses so that we can communicate with you.

· Food and beverages during our worship gatherings.

The monthly needs for our budget are listed below

Our intent in providing online giving is for your convenience only. Our intent is not to have you acquire a credit card balance in order to give. If you are not able to pay off the amount placed on your credit card when your bill comes due, we would prefer you didn't use this method.

Thank you!!
